Terms of Service

These Terms are between you and Papyrus Digital (“we”, “us”) and cover your use of Keycap (“the App”). By using Keycap you agree to them. You must be at least 13, or the minimum age in your country if that is higher.

Your licence to install and use the App is set out in the Licence. What the App does with your data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

1. No accounts

Keycap has no accounts, no sign-in and no server. Your use of the App is entirely local to your Mac.

2. Your typing and your subjects

You keep everything you type. Keycap does not transmit it and does not keep keystrokes after a Run ends.

When you name a subject for practice text, it is passed to the on-device Apple Intelligence model on your Mac. Do not use it to try to generate content that is unlawful where you are. The model may decline a subject; Keycap tells you and asks for another.

Practice passages are written by a language model. They are typing material, not a source of fact.

3. Price and refunds

Keycap is sold through the Mac App Store and paid to Apple. It has no subscription, no in-app purchases and no advertising; if that ever changes, these Terms will change first.

Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves.

4. Ownership

Keycap — its name, design and code — belongs to Papyrus Digital. It includes third-party material used under licence, listed in the Licence and credited in the App under Settings.

5. No warranty

Keycap is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be error-free, or that practice history stored on your Mac will not be lost.

Keycap measures typing and reports what it measured. It is not a medical, ergonomic or occupational-health tool, and nothing it shows is advice about injury or strain. If typing hurts, stop and see a professional.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Papyrus Digital is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of Keycap. Our total liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of what you paid for the App in the preceding twelve months or fifty US dollars ($50).

Where your local law does not allow these limits, they apply only as far as it does. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

7. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to support Keycap and is not responsible for any claim about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

8. Ending these Terms

You can end them at any time by deleting the App; because there is no account, that is all it takes. We may end your licence if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 4 to 7 and 9 survive.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India and any dispute is subject to the courts of India. This does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.

10. Changes

When we make a material change we will update the date above, publish the new Terms here and note it in the App’s release notes.
